With the season hitting the halfway stage, Liverpool fans can go into the festive period full of optimism. With the league’s top goalscorer amongst their ranks, the Merseysiders have swept aside a number of teams this season.
But the defensive frailties that have haunted them from previous seasons, still haven’t shaken off yet as Klopp’s men leak goals that both the boss and fans will be furious about.
Mohamed Salah has hit 18 goals in all competitions for the Reds and will be looking to keep his rich run of form up with crucial games against Bournemouth and Arsenal before Christmas.
Manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Salah, as the Egyptian won African Footballer of the Year, beating the likes of Naby Keita, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and team mate Saido Mane to win the award.
“I think the good thing is he is still young, there is a lot of space for improvement, lots of potential we can work on,” said Klopp.
“It’s a big pleasure to be honest to work with him and the other guys.
With Liverpool sat 5th in the table, Klopp’s men are up there fighting for a Champions League spot and will be looking to keep up their 10-match unbeaten run in the league as 2017 comes to a close.
