WITH Halloween just around the corner, Southampton is gearing up and preparing some massive events which will leave you with nightmares for weeks.

This year Southampton has everything from Ghost Tours to earning your broomstick licence, these are just a few of the masses of events being held this October across the country.

1. Vampire Ball

Join Vlad and Nosferat for a nightmare at Mango No.5 Basement where the old, young, and dead are all welcome.

What to expect: live music from blues and roots band Johnny Boxcars at 10pm, close up illusionist magician, the spookiest Halloween decorations, free entry to all before midnight, Mango meal prizes for best dressed, and devilish cocktail specials and punch.

When: Saturday 28th Oct at 21:30 – 05:00 Sunday 29th Oct

2. Halloween Southampton

5,000 monsters are to takeover Southampton’s biggest clubs in the biggest fancy-dress part on the South-Coast. Your favourite clubs include: Buddha, Orange Rooms, Pop World, Café Parfait, Switch and Oceana.

What to expect: Live music and fancy dress is a must. Also, some of the best DJ’s in the world to choose from and float between and some very special headliners. £2 drinks all night.

When: Sunday 29th Oct

How much: £10 Early Bird. £12 Standard.

3. Southampton Halloween Ghost Tour

Come along for a gripping tour of Southampton’s most eerie locations and visit the sites of some of the most notorious ghosts of Southampton.

What to expect: Discover ghosts of famous historic buildings including The Bargate and Merchants Hall, live actors spooking you along the way, and access to some of the city’s vaults.

When: Tuesday 31st Oct at 19:30 and 20:40

4. Pumpkin Soup Storytelling and Pumpkin Carving

For families of little ones, Royal Victoria Country Park have a day of fun storytelling and everything pumpkins.

What to expect: A hunt with Cat and Squirrel to find their friend Duck, who is hiding somewhere in the park, before it’s too late; after Duck has safely been found then you can try and carve your own pumpkin to take home with you.

When: Friday 27th Oct at 10:00 and 14:00

How much: £6 per child

5. Boo at the Zoo!

Wear your best spooky and fun fancy dress costumes at Marwell Zoo for a full day of entertaining and enjoyable activities.

What to expect: Create your own magical wizard or witches wand, meet their resident wizard and earn your Level 2 Broomstick licence with his flying lessons, carve your own pumpkin in the Pumpkin Patch, spooky storytelling, and scary monster face painting.

When: Saturday 21st Oct – Sunday 29th Oct

6. Room on a Broom

More family fun at Royal Victoria Country Park with their Room on a Broom storytelling adventure.

What to expect: Join the witch and her cat to defeat the dragon, you will be given your own free broom to help the witch zoom around the park; once the dragon is defeated you can make your own scary Halloween craft to take home with you.

When: Tuesday 24th Oct at 10:00 and 14:00

How much: £6 per child

7. Family Halloween Twilight Tour

More on offer at Tudor House with the family Halloween Twilight Tour.

What to expect: Listen to ghostly stories and goings-on with Dr Andy Russel. Hear about The Grey Lady and The Walk of Death in a spooky kid-friendly tour. Remember to bring a torch to ward off unfriendly ghosts.

When: Saturday 28 Oct at 15:00-16:30

How much: £5 (£4 Children and Conc)

8. Cheeky Halloween

There’s some extra craziness at Oceana with their Cheeky Halloween event.

What to expect: The Evil Monkey is on the loose. It is deranged and highly dangerous and Southampton is on red alert. Come to Oceana if you dare for a night of scares for this cheeky Halloween event.

When: Tuesday 31st Oct

How much: £5.00 standard entry. £4.00 early bird tickets

9. District Southampton

Get on your most fiendish costumes at the Engine Rooms for District’s extravagant Halloween party.

What to expect: UV cannons everywhere, a huge range of alt/rock/metal/pop-punk music from their resident DJs, £200 cash prize for best costume voted for by you, and a free Uber ride to or from the venue with their promo code which is found on their website.

When: Tuesday 31st Oct at 23:00 –  04:00 Wednesday 1st November

10. Strangest Things ‘80s Halloween Party

Last years tour of ‘80s themed clubnight Strangest Things, inspired by the Netflix series, sold out with a bang; they are back this year bringing their show to Southampton at Junk.

What to expect:  Vinyl records featured in and inspired by the show, ‘80s themed costumes, prizes for best dressed, a shrine to Barb and miles of fairy lights.

When: Friday 13th Oct at 22:00
