POP ROCK band Busted were in Southampton’s HMV for the penultimate city on their signing tour with the release of their first album since their reunion last year, Night Driver.
Hundreds of fans queued up in the November evening chill to see the band and get them to sign their new CD. Wristbands were available to those who pre-ordered the album in-store at the high-street music shop.
Night Driver is their first release since ‘A Present For Everyone’, their last studio album released in 2003. They released ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’ to accompany the live action movie in what would be their fourth and final number one hit in August 2004 before they officially split up in early 2005.
Two members of the original three-piece, James Bourne and Matt Willis, joined with McFly to create McBusted in 2014.
Busted announced their reunion with third member Charlie Simpson at the end of 2015 with a tour in the Summer this year, ironically called ‘Pigs Can Fly’, and the album that was released last week.
However, the band did not just come back making the same guitar heavy hits they made in the early 2000s – they’ve updated their sound to fit 2016 and it’s been a hit with fans, both people that’ve been fans since the beginning in 2002 and people that are just discovering the band new. Their position in the album charts will be announced at the weekend.
Night Driver puts a more electronic and synth heavy tone on the sound that fans know as ‘Busted’, new tracks and lead singles ‘On What You’re On’, ‘Coming Home’ and ‘Easy’ are set to be the ‘Year 3000’ and ‘Air Hostess’ of 2016.
