Chancellor delivers budget

Yesterday George Osborne delivered his eighth budget as chancellor. With measures ranging from taxes on sugary drinks to changes in the status of secondary schools, the budget divided opinion.

Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn called the budget “an attack on the poor” while others hailed the chancellor for his reforms on tax allowances for small businesses.

The chancellor was keen to point out during the speech that this was a “budget for the next generation”, so much so he uttered the phrase 18 times.
