Everybody associates the magic of the FA Cup with the third round, however, tonight Dulwich Hamlet will be hoping to create some magic for themselves as they host League Two Carlisle United in front of the BBC cameras.
The National League South side will be the first of a host of non-league teams hoping to progress to round two at the expense of a Football League club.
Dulwich got into the first round thanks to a 2-1 away win against Havant & Waterlooville. A win against tonight’s opponents will make history for the South London club.
Having never made it into the second round before, forward, Adeoye Yusuff believes that the clubs inconsistent form is irrelevant.
“We haven’t been able to turn draws into wins but we are ready for Carlisle.
“It’s a one-off game – a free-hit.”
Carlisle have also struggled for consistency this season, having won five of their 17 league games.
While hoping to avoid a ‘cupset’, The Cumbrians recent form in the FA Cup first round has been very impressive.
Their last loss in the first round came in 2014 with an away defeat to Peterborough United.
