The FA Cup First Round Proper kicks off this weekend with 40 games being played between tonight and Monday – AFC Wimbledon travel to Haringey Borough this evening to kick-off proceedings.

Tomorrow, two-time FA Cup winners Portsmouth make the short journey to Berkshire to face non-league Maidenhead United.

It’s been a decade now since Pompey were triumphant in their most recent cup success in 2008 but since then, the club have suffered consecutive relegations to the country’s basement tiers.

As a result, for the past seven seasons, the Blues have had to start their FA Cup campaigns from the First Round Proper.

Of those previous six seasons, Portsmouth have been knocked out at the first hurdle on five occasions – most famously in 2014 when Aldershot became the first. Non-league team to knockout.

We decided to head to Portsmouth to speak to passionate fans about their memories of the club’s glory days.
